Mud Flower Counseling- Somatic Psychotherapy...for Therapists
Holding you while you hold others
It can feel awkward to enter the therapy space as a client when you are used to being in the driver’s seat. It invites a different level of vulnerability and strength. Maybe you’re looking for a place to shift out of the “healer” role, to experience healing more deeply in your own life, to be able to hold space for the parts of yourself that need care in order to allow yourself to show up more fully and embodied in your work and relationships. Or perhaps you are beginning to notice that there are pieces of yourself that are seeking care and attention, asking to process parts of your story in a new way.
As a licensed mental health counselor, I specialize in supporting emerging and younger adults (16-40ish) of all gender identities and expressions who have experienced trauma and who struggle with intense emotions and impulse control. I strive to be an ally with individuals experiencing sexual/gender identity related struggles and exploration and am happy to support you in advocating for gender affirming care. Essentially- I help people learn how to reconnect and repair the mind-body connection so that they can live more fully in the present and experience more control over their emotions. And I absolutely LOVE supporting other mental health professionals
Some things I can help with:
- Painful Childhood Events
- Generational Trauma
- Cycle Breaking
- Intense Feelers / Borderline Personality Symptoms
- Highly Sensitive Persons / Empaths
- LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
- Transference issues when your work intersect with pain in your story
In my practice, I primarily utilize and integrate the following therapeutic modalities:
- Traditional Talk Therapy from an Existential & Behavioral Approach
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- The Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method
- Parts Work
- Somatic Experiencing
- Brainspotting
Sessions go beyond traditional talk therapy and may involve education around trauma and your nervous system, body-based techniques for grounding and emotional release/regulation, self reflection, meditation, intentional breathing practices, and physical yoga postures or intuitive movement. We’ll also work to build our therapeutic relationship while talking things out the traditional way. Right now, life might often feel chaotic and overwhelming. Let’s work together to remove the barriers in the way of you living more present, happier, and free!
